In 1954. my father and mother had graduated from the University of Arkansas. They moved to Los Angeles where my father started teaching and coaching at John Burroughs Junior High School. Apparently, it is identified as a middle school today. According to my father, Natalie Cole would stay with him and help as an equipment manager whenever Nat King Cole had a gig. Jerry Lewis lived across the street from the school. Sometimes, Jerry Lewis helped my father coach track and field. My father took kids from John Burroughs Junior High School on summer trips. One of the kids that went on the trips was Ricky Nelson.
